Photo RollOff now speaks Italian, Polish and Dutch
Italian, Polish and Dutch are here. Photo RollOff is now fully localised in eight languages, from the interface all the way to the error messages.
An app that moves photos from your iPhone to your Mac should not need translating before you can understand it. That is exactly why Photo RollOff has been multilingual from day one. Version 1.2 adds three more languages: Italian, Polish and Dutch.
That brings the app to eight languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish.
Fully translated, not just the buttons
It is not only the visible interface that is translated, but everything the app puts in front of you day to day: status messages during the import, the labels in the archive, the names of the file types, the prompts when deleting from the iPhone, and the error messages when something goes wrong.
Error messages are exactly the moment when you really need to understand an app. If English suddenly shows up there while everything else runs in your own language, that is not a detail, it is precisely where uncertainty starts. So the rule was simple: a language is either done completely or not at all.
The language sets itself
On first launch, Photo RollOff simply picks up the language your Mac is set to. If your system is in Italian, the app starts in Italian. There is nothing to configure.
If you would rather use a different language, you can switch it right inside the app. You will find the setting under Settings, then Advanced, or in the main menu under Help.
Numbers and dates adapt too
Localisation does not stop at the text. Photo RollOff shows file sizes, dates and number formats the way your region writes them. An import from 3 August looks different in the Dutch version than in the American one, and that is exactly as it should be.
The same goes for the templates used for automatic renaming. If you have your files named by capture date, you get a date format that makes sense in your folder and sorts cleanly.
The update is already out
The new languages are part of version 1.2 and are a free update for everyone who already owns Photo RollOff. Just update from the App Store.
What comes next?
Eight languages is a good place to be, but not the finish line. If something in your language reads oddly or is plainly wrong, let us know through the support page. Feedback from people who speak a language every day is worth far more than any review after the fact.
